We have run our second race!. We have done better than the first; at least we finished with a 20th position. The result is not really satisfactory … we had a very difficult weekend.
Friday was very cold, the track was cold and we had problems with the grip at the rear. On Saturday we solved the problems, but after 10 minutes into the first qualifying session it started raining. In the second session the track was wet, but not enough to take advantage of the rain tires and not dry enough to ride with slicks, so we decided not to go to risk a fall.
The qualifying times for the race were decided during the first 10 minutes of Q1 (the only dry period all day) so we stayed at No. 21 with a time of 1:49,2.
Sunday during warm-up the track was wet, and for the race, which began at 10:45 the sun shone again and the asphalt was dry, but when the race finally started the track was still slightly wet.
Coming from a fall last week in Valencia, and with only 10 minutes riding with optimun conditios in Jerez, we struggled to find a good pace in the race, so we finished in position 20.
From now on we are working to prepare the best possible CEV 2011. In fact, on Monday we stayed in Jerez to train, and things were much better, though that is a topic for another post.
I take this opportunity to thank all members of Team Medes for all the help they gave us in these two races and all the good work they have done. And Pep Pujol for providing the pictures that illustrate this post.
