This past weekend we took another step forwards in our project and as you know we ran our first race. It was a bittersweet weekend because our race was cut short with a crash in the first lap, after a very good start where Alex jumped from 17 to 12. Curiously Bernat, Alex’s brother, also fell on the first lap of the race, in a crash that had nothing to do with ours.
Fortunately Alex was not hurt in the fall, and the bike had some damage but did not break anything important.
In the first qualifying session we were nr. 15 in the table and in the second session we were 17th.
Now we must forget this crash and stay with the positives of the weekend, of which there have been many. For example, all displays of affection that we have received these days, many people (many of those who follow us through this blog) that has passed through the box to greet and support us. Everyone really liked the bike and the graphic decoration, designed by the graphics studio HUSMEE, one of our sponsors. For all of you that passed by the box and have given us support through this blog, on Facebook, Twitter, etc.. Thank you very much!
On the other hand, the integration with the people of the GTM team (Glin Team Medes) with which we worked together has been really good and we felt very comfortable working with them.
Also, Ken Summerton, technical director of K-tech (the suspensions brand we are using on the M210) has been working with us in the box all weekend and he will join us also next weekend at Jerez.
We only have two days to work on the bike to get it in perfect condition again, because on Wednesday we travel to Jerez. Hopefully we will be more successful there than our debut this weekend in Cheste. Is likely going to be a difficult race because the weather forecast for next weekend in Jerez is rain.
On this blog pages I have always said that our goal was to learn and have fun. Now that we are racing the goals remains the same but with the added bonus of being as competitive as possible and fight for the top places.
Let no one doubt that we will give our best of to achieve that! 🙂
See you next weekend in Jerez!
Congratulations for the first race, good pace in the midfield. Bottpower project is very inspiring to follow.
What kind of an engine are you allowed to have in races?
Hi UT, in the CEV the engine is CBR 600 and must remain standard. The electronics are free.
Congratulations! I’m a crew chief in British Supersport, and have watched your progress for about a year. I was fortunate to spend last week at the Valencia circuit, and watched..and timed..your bike with great interest on Friday. I was very impressed indeed, and I can see why Ken (we also work in development with K-Tech) is excited to be working with your team. Good luck this weekend in Jerez.
Thank`s for every people!! We are very hapy with the support of Ken and the other partners, see you in the races..
