Just for fun.

In Bottpower we think that the Buell engine and the XR-1 chassis are a very good base with a lot of possibilities for creating funny bikes. Here you have three proposals.

Hugo van Waaijen has created proposals #1 and #2. Hugo is a Dutch designer (currently living in Germany) that has participated in most of the Bottpower projects, since we started doing things at the end of 20th century… 🙂
The third design has been made by Miguel Belascuain, an Argentinian designer. We have a very good relationship with him and we hope to keep colaborating in the future.

The first concept is a street supermoto, quite similar to the XR-1, although with different aesthetics. This design could be also a good base to create a cafe racer motorbike, just adding clip-ons instead of the wide handlebar and adding also a front cupolino.

Second design is a road bike with a classic touch, cafe racer style. In Bottpower we love cafe racers and we would like to do something in this field.

And we arrive to Miguel Belascuain concept, which is the most radical and risky one. It is a motorbike that could be classified into the “macho” bike segment. Miguel explains it better:

“When I saw the XR-1 photos I thought that it was a very interesting base to create something. The bike has very few fibers and it could be possible to create a kit to convert a Buell into a “macho” bike with a strong personality.
I think that the Ducati Diavel has created a new category (going away from the Vmax dragster concept and the V-rod “sport custom”) and I think that this design could fit in this category (although with less power, of course).”

Please let us know your opinion about these proposals. You can see higher resolution photos in our Flickr gallery.

  1. They all look great but I’m voting for the First Design. That thing looks smoking hot!!!

Keep up the great work. I can’t wait to see the first finished bike. How is the XR1 Project coming along?

  2. Hi Ben, thank you for your vote.
The XR-1 is going ahead, we are working on the fibers right now. I hope to write a post about it soon.

Hi Charlie, thank you for giving your opinion! 🙂

  3. My vote is for the cafe racer. As a 2nd look for your frame package, it is a great way to market to another segment in the moto-community, adds viability to the business model. I really like the placement of the rear shock, adds a cool retro look that I am a fan of. The third ‘muscle’ bike is more of a reach, and the first is more of a variation on the original theme. Just an opinion…

  4. Phil @ Motormouth Fabrication

I’m voting for #1 but like #2 as well. #3 looks like a Ducati, not what we want a Buell to look like. I’m trying to acqire a Buell XB now to use as a donor for the kit! Can’t wait to terrorize S o. Cal. on one of these!

  5. You mentioned in one of your earlier post that you thought the bike would handle better than the original Buell. Can you go in more detail on why. Maybe talk about the work that you did on the geometry of the bike. Thanks!

  6. Hi Charlie, I don’t remember having said that it would handle better than the original Buell, could you please let me know where I said it? 🙂
The bike geometry is exactly the same than the original Buell.

    1. Hi Russ,

We are building it. We will sell our own fueltank and seat. You can use ours or try to adapt another one if you want.
We will explain the project development in our blog. Stay tuned!

  7. So how far off until offering this really great program in any of the forms shown (including the “XR 1 Flattracker)? I know you are busy but we are really tempted and want to purchase the kit. Did you ever decide on the actual number of mounting points?

    1. Hi Guitback, thank you for your interest in the XR-1. We will write very soon a post talking about how the XR-1 project is going on. By the moment we keep with 2 mounting points and we will decide if we continue in this way once we fully test the bike.

  8. Hi David and team,

#2 – Cafe Racer with the small fairing is incredibly cool. The fairing is a fresh, original design.

The fairing has an old locomotive influence due to the lighting and round shape.
