BOTT cafe racer, version one.

These renders show what will probably be the final design of our new cafe racer, although we are also working on other variations of this design that we will show in following posts, with the intention of knowing which is your favorite one. Please click on the images to see in full size.

We are also designing some special parts, like a “cupolino” and another version which keeps the two headlights and the oil radiator from the xR1, instead of the round headlight of this one.
As we already said in previous posts, this bike shares a lot of parts with the BOTT XR1 (frame, subframe, footpegs, secondary fueltanks, display, etc).
The bike of the renders has a special Bottpower swingarm, but of course it will be possible to build the bike using the original Buell swingarm (and also the original rims, brakes, suspensions, and belt drive).

In the last image you can see that we will also build a carbon fiber fueltank and tail.

As we did with the XR1, we will create a kit to convert a Buell XB into this cafe racer.
We already started the building of the first unit. We will show very soon how the building is going on!

  1. I like everything but how the tank is bigger in the rear. From the intake side of the engine it makes it visually appear the motorcycle is bent at the beginning of the seat.

I like the design. There are some nice details in the design. I especially like the sing arm. The aluminum piece of the swing arm. Would that me a solid piece CNC out of aluminum or a shell like you see out of most modern race swing arms?

  3. @av240: Thank you for the comment; I suggest you wait for version 2 of the Cafe Racer because that fueltank looks “less bulky” at the rear…
@ Charlie Hatfield: the aluminium part of the swingarm is hollow because it contains the oil (same principle as the original Buell swingarm)

  4. Super coup de crayon! Comme la xr1, je craque! Des roues à rayons…. Peut être… À quand la vente de vos châssis en France? Vite!!! (j’ ai un xb démonté qui prend la poussière dans le garage)

  6. this is another amazing design. I had an XR1200 for couple of years. When i first saw the XR1 from bottpower, well.. this is everything i would have wished the xr1200 to be. As for the xc1, are you folks thinking at any change on the air intake/ air filter design? with this new Cafe racer look, what about something similar to air intake used on Harley’s XR1200?
also, not sure on actual measures, but maybe there is room for a front air intake passing around the steering head of the frame and directly going into a small air box under the tank. it could go on the side of the the headlamp (even if now it needs to be fixed to the frame like on the street triple…). Front view look would be super narrow. Cannot wait to see final bike 🙂 … great work folks!

Your very first café racer design was a killer, very inspiring for me. I’m not fan of the actual one, but the version with front fairing featured on your portfolio looks better balanced. Congrats for your job.

  8. @Olivier: thank you for the compliment. That concept was made in the same period more or less and it shows what kind of potential the XR1 as a base has. But as always different customers, different styles and flavoures. My suggestion is to wait for the other versions and see if one of those will be more to your liking:)

  9. I’m a big fan of the xR1 (even consider the possibility of getting one in the future) and love cafe racers but there’s something off with this design. I think that the different angles of the tail and the tank doesn’t match. Either the tail should be taller at the back or the tank higher at the front, that’s my humble opinion.
